This page explains how we use the photo you send us, who owns your portrait design, and when we'd ever show it to anyone else.
Your photo
Only send a photo you're allowed to use. When you upload a photo, you confirm that:
- you took it, or the person who took it has said you can use it, and
- anyone in it is happy to be painted. For a child, that means a parent or guardian.
Please don't send photos from a professional shoot unless the photographer has agreed, photos you found online, or photos with a watermark. We don't make portraits of celebrities, logos or cartoon characters.
We can say no to a photo. If we can't use your photo, we'll ask you for another one. If you don't have another, we'll cancel the order and refund you in full.
Your photo stays yours. You give us permission to use it only to make, check and send your order. That includes passing it to our design team and to the tools we use for AI-assisted styles. We don't use your photo for anything else, including advertising, unless you've agreed to it (see "Showing your portrait" below).
We delete your photo 90 days after your kit is delivered. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your details.
Your portrait design
How each style is made:
- Human artist styles are drawn by our in-house artists.
- AI-assisted styles are made with AI tools, then checked and finished by our team.
Either way, you see a preview and approve it before we print.
Colordemy keeps the rights in the design. The design belongs to Colordemy, including any copyright in it. Your portrait is made for you, and you're welcome to:
- paint it, frame it, hang it and give it as a gift
- share photos of it, painted or not, on social media
- order more kits of it from us for 12 months after delivery
Please don't sell the design or use it for a business, such as on products, prints or in advertising.
We only use your design to make your order. We don't sell it, reuse it for someone else, or show it publicly unless you've said yes.
Showing your portrait
We'd love to share finished portraits, but only with your permission. After your kit arrives, we may email to ask. You choose:
- whether we can show it at all
- where: our website, social media or ads
- whether to include a first name
Saying no won't change anything about your order. If you change your mind later, email us. We'll take it off our website and won't use it in anything new.
Your rights under Australian law
Nothing on this page takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
